What is Real Estate for a Cure?

Real Estate for a Cure Overview

Your home is the cornerstone upon which your family is built.  Think of all the events, large and small, that are celebrated at home – Holidays and Graduations, Potty Training, and taking off the Training Wheels.  From family dinners shared around the kitchen table to first kisses given on the doorstep, many of the treasured memories held forever are those events that take place in the home.  That is why we take buying or selling a home seriously, and why we have chosen to help families who have been through the worst of times – families whose children have battled cancer – regain hope to again celebrate the best of times.

Real Estate for a Cure helps these families by supporting Noah’s Light Foundation, a non-profit organization that funds immune based therapy research for pediatric brain cancer. After learning that her son, Noah’s, treatments for brain cancer were as toxic to his body as they were to the cancer, Amber Larkin began Noah’s Light Foundation with a simple goal: that no family should lose a child because of lack of funding for research.  That’s why the Foundation is funding “bench to bedside” research that utilizes specially trained white blood cells to find and fight cancer cells at their source.  This research, The NOAH (New Opportunity Advancing Hope) Protocol, is taking place at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston and has been cleared by the FDA for Phase 1 trials.  Though Noah sadly lost his battle, the research that bears his name is moving forward and helping children to a new life, free of cancer.

How Real Estate for a Cure Works?

Real Estate for a Cure supports Noah’s Light Foundation by donating 50% of commissions earned by the Realtor Involved,  from the Purchase and or Sale of a Home, to the Foundation and it’s efforts to cure pediatric cancer.  Whether buying or selling, contact us and we will partner you with an agent who is committed to your best interests and the best interests of children with cancer.

Imagine a family can come home with a healthy child, a child ready to go back to school, back to playing in the yard, back to life.  A child whose future was uncertain will be able to one day own a home of his or her own and make memories with their own children.

The NOAH Protocol

We are so thrilled to announce the FDA has approved The NOAH Protocol. Children who have been told they have no hope for survival will finally get a chance at life. Dr. Laurence Cooper, lead researcher, said, “The ability to test the NOAH Protocol in patients is due to the sheer will of one mom, one little boy, and an incredible determination by the team at MD Anderson to prevent other children from suffering from brain cancer. This is the first big step.”

The NOAH Protocol (New Opportunity Advancing Hope) is groundbreaking, advanced immunotherapy to treat children diagnosed with brain cancer. Until this treatment, chemotherapy had to be administered in extremely high doses to the entire system so that it could breach the blood-brain barrier, a protective layer that surrounds the brain. Radiation is aimed at the entire brain, damaging healthy cells in the process and rendering younger patients who survive unable to read, tell time or tie their shoes.

{“There are so many more ‘Noahs’ out there, and I now do this for each and every one.”}

– Founder, Amber A. Larkin

Now, however, The NOAH Protocol will treat cancer directly at the site of the tumor and avoid harsh side effects of chemotherapy and radiation. Doctors will retrieve NK (natural killer) cells from the patient, which are part of the immune system, and strip them of their typical hunting abilities. Then, the NK cells are introduced to the patient’s cancer cells and trained to fight the tumor, cell by cell. A new surgical technique, in which a port is implanted at the site of the cancer, delivers the newly trained NK cells to do their duty and kill the cancer.

Supporting Noah’s Light Foundation means that valuable dollars will now be used to save children’s lives. Study information for NOAH Protocol is available at www.clinicaltrials.gov.
